This page describe the hardware revisions of ROCK Pi S. For the different models and features of each models, please refer models page.

V1.0

  • This is the first version of the board, 15 samples are made

V1.1

  • Board color changes to yellow :-)
  • Change GPIO header to be compatible with ROCK Pi 4
  • Swap USB Host on type A and USB OTG on type C, make more sense with single cable for power and adb
  • Change SPI flash to SD Nand

V1.2

  • Add full PDM support on GPIO header according to the discussion on the forum
  • Swap ethernet status led JP1 pin 11/12 and pin 13/14
  • Change resistor R9608 R90304 value to reduce brightness of LED
  • Add 5.1K pull down resistor on type C CC pin :-)

V1.3

  • Change 4 PINs MIC on 26P header 2 with SPI/I2C/UART function, as required by some applications. Check V13 GPIO PINOUT (Pin 13/14/15/16) for more details

V1.3(2022)

Because of the supply chain challenge, Rockchip updated RK3308 version to RK3308BS. For ROCK Pi S V1.3 version manufactured in 2022 and later, we now use the new RK3308B-S version. The hardware difference of S version can be found here and software difference explanation can be found here.

The new ROCK Pi S images released in 2022 already supports both chip version, it's backward compatible with all ROCK Pi S versions.Currently the new image is not compatible with the older hardware version. Please refer to the image release page for more information.
